About Transcription

Transcription is the process of listening to what someone dictates in a recorder and typing it into a text editor or word processing application, such as Word. The completed transcript is then returned to the dictator or the company the dictator works for.

Medical transcription transcripts are returned to be included in the medical record for a patient. Healthcare providers reference medical records to obtain medical and social history, medication list, allergies, drug reactions, laboratory data, treatment plans and other information necessary to provide continuity of care.

Legal transcription typically involves correspondence, but may also include court documents, briefs, articles and other documents produced by attorneys.

General transcription can include transcribing podcasts, interviews, meetings, and correspondence from a variety of individuals in many different professions.

There are so many different sites and they all say something different. I’m confused.

Before launching TranscriptionWorkAtHome.com (TxWAH), we did some research on the internet to see what else is out there.

We found sites that are nothing more than a little bit of content and a LOT of ads.

We found sites that made outrageous claims and promises, many of them from people claiming to be successful in the work-at-home transcription business. You don’t know those people - I don’t know those people. People can say and be whatever they want on the internet. If you want to know who we are and what we do, read about us, check out the related sites in our network. I have deep ties to the transcription community and have been active online for many, many years.

At TxWAH, our aim is to keep it real. We’ve had the opportunity over the last 20 years in the general and medical transcription business to hear from many people who want to enter this field. They were mostly women: expectant mothers, new mothers, recently divorced, single mothers, caretakers, women living in rural areas without a lot of job opportunities - and a few men. Like them, this is where your journey starts.

We hope you find what you’re looking for here.
